C. Roy Vince, CPCU C. Roy Vince is the founder and president of C.R. Vince & Associates, which was formally organized in 1986. C.R. Vince & Associates provides claim and risk management services under Mr. Vince’s management. He personally manages professional liability claims, and oversees a seasoned staff of claims professionals. Drawing upon more than 30 years of experience and innovation in the industry, he has successfully developed a unique, proactive approach emphasizing early claim resolution through negotiation and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Vince was one of the authors of Quality in the Constructed Work Product and authored a chapter in the Legal Handbook for Architects, Engineers and Contractors. He serves on the editorial board of the "Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities." He has also written many articles for professional journals. In conjunction with the University of Chicago and the University of Maryland, he has conducted programs in loss avoidance for architects and engineers. He served as Director, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Chairman of the National Risk Retention Association (NRRA). He serves on the NRRA Government Affairs Committee. He was a Director of two Risk Retention Groups, ARDI Exchange, servicing the needs of rental equipment dealers, and a former director of Architects and Engineers Insurance Company for 10 years, which he was instrumental in founding. He is an affiliate member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). He is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). He holds licenses in the fields of health, life, property, casualty, surplus lines and adjusting. In 1984, Mr. Vince was an organizer of Professional Liability Brokers and Consultants, Inc. (PLB&C), a predecessor to C.R. Vince & Associates. This firm specialized in risk management with respect to professionals, including lawyers, accountants and constructors. Mr. Vince was commissioned to develop a theory of Unified Risk Insurance to reduce litigation arising from construction projects. In recognition of his work, Engineering News Record honored Mr. Vince as one of 52 persons who contributed most to the construction industry in 1985. Mr. Vince’s experience includes managing the professional liability claims department and contractors errors and omissions liability at Shand Morahan, DPIC and CNA. Mr. Vince also served as Vice President of the Evanston Insurance Company, Insurance Company of Evanston, and Evanston Reinsurance Company. Mr. Vince represented the insurance industry during investigative hearings into structural failure of the Hyatt skywalks in Kansas City by the Committee on Science & Technology of the U.S. House of Representatives, testifying before Congressman Al Gore’s subcommittee. Mr. Vince instructed CPCU classes. He is a former member of the Environmental Law Institute. Mr. Vince graduated from Central Connecticut State College in 1963 and then received his M.A. at Trinity College in 1968, and his CPCU designation in 1972.
